Welcome to Mitchell Queensland, the capital of Kenniff country and gateway to the outback. Sir Thomas Mitchell first visited our area in 1846, where he camped on and named the Maranoa River during an expedition to find an overland route from Sydney to the Gulf of Carpentaria.
